Regional representation of Liverpool.
Regional representation of Liverpool is presented in many ways in the opening. There is a colour scheme used throughout of greys, browns and dark colours. This makes the presentation of Liverpool seem 'gloomy' and 'dull'. Non-diagetic music is used at the start this emphasises the tension and by the use of drums playing. Diagetic sound is also used, such as the children around he priest being noisy which creates the hectic atmosphere. Also, the clothes that the characters are wearing are not high class, they are 'scruffy' and plain clothes. This highlights Liverpool as being more lower class. By the setting we can see that the houses and streets are more like council houses and not high class. The streets also look 'grim' and 'dirty' which also gives us a sense of what Liverpool is like. Low lighting is used, to make it look like a 'depressing' rather than a 'happy' place. The sky and weather is also not bright, which adds to the atmosphere of Liverpool.
