What does sound bring to a media text?
It helps to create the atmosphere and the mood expressed throughout the scene. Sometimes it can create tension and suspense, and other times, happiness.
Diagetic sound: Is sound that comes from the scene itself. e.g. DJ from a nightclub.
Non-diagetic: Sound that is added over the action, to create a mood. e.g. theme tune.
Synchronised sound: occurs when there is a match between the visuals and soundtrack.
Selective: Highlight certain aspects of a text.
